Asian Study Center for Political & Conflict Transformation – ASPECT is an academic and policy-oriented non-government, non-partisan and non-profit making autonomous institution registered with the G overnment of Nepal committed towards peace building and conflict transformation. Aspect is constituent institution of Mountain Resources Mangement Group (MRMG) and is governed by the MRMG's Charter and its Board of Directors. It is being established with the vision of building a peaceful, democratic society in order to fully realize and respect peace, justice and human rights. We envisaged a need of an action-oriented movement for peaceful neighborhood, equitable social system and respectful life in South Asia.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF ASPECT

 

The long-term aim of ASPECT is to:

 

• Enable and challenge individuals, organizations and networks, at all levels and in different sectors of society of South Asia, to become more sustained and strategic in their work for peace and justice;

 

• Provide accessible opportunities for advanced, practical learning in peace building and conflict transformation for people who are engaged in bringing about constructive change in their society in South Asia;

 

• Conduct Research, and study, generate, document and disseminate new knowledge, theory and insights relevant to work for peace and justice in South Asia;

 

• Make the links between theory, action and reflection and thus contribute actively to the further development of this field where it is needed.

 

• Support peace building and conflict transformation practitioners in the areas of capacity building, peace forums, dialogue, consultation and peace initiatives as we as set up an early warning systems by identifying issues of peace and facilitation communication among relevant social institutions for peace in South Asia.

 

• Conduct a conflict mapping exercise to identify potential and actual conflict hot spots in the region in order to create better peace building and conflict transformation techniques and mechanisms.
